TimeRunnerReferee video goal system upgrade for Admiral KHL team

In August 2014 a new technical regulations of the KHL (Kontinental Hockey League) was approved. According to the new rules, hockey championships should be recorded from video cameras to video goal systems in HD 720p or 1080i format and have a frame rate of 50 fps. Such video quality makes it easier for Video Goal Judge to review replays of a disputable game situation.

n accordance with the new KHL requirements, the BRAM Technologies company upgraded the TimeRunnerReferee video goal system for the Admiral hockey club. The system was installed in 2013 in the Fetisov Arena stadium in Vladivostok, home of the KHL team. The advanced TimeRunnerReferee hardware-software complex provides recording in HD format from 7 cameras, six standard and one panoramic. The system is seamlessly scalable, therefore the number of recording channels can be increased in future.

Sophisticated interpolation algorithms of TimeRunnerReferee allow to get a sharply image at any speed of slow motion repeats (from -200% to +200%), which makes reviewing the disputed moments more detailed. Video Goal Judges’ workstations can be arranged locally on the server block or remotely over the network. Video recorded from the cameras and the highlights of the championship are exported to DVD in H.264 compressed format. This data should be backed up and sent to KHL FTP-server upon the Referee Supervisor request.

BRAM Technologies specialists upgraded the TimeRunnerReferee video goal system at Fetisov Arena in a record short time. The system fully meets all KHL applicable technical requirements and successfully works at the games of Admiral team in the new hockey season 2014/2015.
