In August 2014 a new technical regulations of the KHL (Kontinental Hockey League) was approved. According to the new rules, hockey championships should be recorded from video cameras to video goal systems in HD 720p or 1080i format and have a frame rate of 50 fps. Such video quality makes it easier for Video Goal Judge to review replays of a disputable game situation.

About 200 TV companies from all over the world participated in broadcasting of the XXII Winter Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi that had been watched by the television audience of several billion people. In Russia, the right to broadcast the competitions had three TV companies: Channel One Russia, VGTRK and NTV-PLUS. In Sochi, they built mini-TV-centers equipped with high-technology equipment and software.
